Sports Technology project wins University Enterprise Award!
The project, led by Dr Ben Halkon, to deliver better instrumentation for Great Britain Rowing Team’s fleet of indoor rowing machines won the Consultancy award.

Various PhD vacancies are now are available within the Sports Technology Research Group. Projects include The Biomechanics of Golf Performance and Integration into Golf Coaching and other projects relating to artificial turf performance. Vacancies close on 6th April 2012.

Loughborough University Enterprise Awards
A project from the Sports Technology Institute has been included in the nominations for the University's Enterprise Awards. The Enterprise Awards celebrate academic engagement with business, public and voluntary organisations to create social, cultural and economic impact through knowledge exchange. Winners will be announced on 25 April at the awards ceremony.

Talk Sport 2012
Talk Sport 2012, which will be held on 16 February, will feature around 30 sport-specialist companies, including representatives from the Sports Technology Institute, providing Loughborough’s students with the chance to find out about the range of careers in sport, as well as the opportunities for work placements.

Sports Technology helps James May to take the perfect penalty
James was given the opportunity by researchers at the Institute who captured the precise detail of his kicking technique before suggesting areas for improvement. The visit was to film for the latest series of James May’s Man Lab, which is currently being shown on BBC2.

New Head of Sports Technology Research Group
The Sports Technology Group continues to thrive, and is well placed to enjoy sustained success. With the continued growth of the Institute and Research Group it has been deemed appropriate to split the Director, Sports Technology Institute and Head of Sports Technology Research Group roles. With immediate effect Dr Andy Harland will take on the role of Research Group Head whilst Prof Mike Caine will remain Director of the Institute.
